My portfolio

 My work reflects the places

– both geographical and imagined –

that I have visited during my life.

Hispanophilia

Hispanophilia is an interpretation of the ideas, memories and feelings inspired by the landscape, architecture, history and literature of Spain and Mexico.

Horse-scape

Horsescapes was inspired by Etruscan sculpture seen in Italy, the landscapes and Andalusian horses of southern Spain and the countryside and Clydesdales in Scotland.

Equus

Equus reflects my relationship as a child into adulthood, with horses and the myths  and the stories  associated with them.
Encounter & Offering paintings relate to chance meetings and incidents that shape our life.

My Art - My Vision

Combining fragments of memory or poems and the physical experience of being in particular places, these paintings are a visualisation of my interior and exterior worlds, synthesised – by means of colour and form – into images.
They are a reflection of emotions and ideas based on re-imagined ancient myths but also on the real world (a landscape, object, face, animal or memory) that has intrigued me or lingered in my memory.

Night Paintings

The Night Paintings  recall walks and night-time excursions alone or in good company.

Land and seascape

Land and seascape are depictions of particular, vividly remembered moments on walks in the various places I have lived throughout my life.

Myth

The Myth paintings are based on a range of ideas inspired by Greek Myth and childhood years spent in Cyprus, then Celtic myth (and Pictish and Norse imagery) living as an adult in Ireland and more recently in Scotland.
